He initially worked in print producing event graphics for the Leadmill in Sheffield. Jonathan joined Mainartery in 1999; a progressive design studio based in London working solely for the music industry. Over a 3-year period he produced a range of unique music packaging that crossed boundaries between 2D and 3D media. Clients include R02, Universal Music, EMI and Azuli Records.
On January 3, 2006 Jonathan founded 'The Northern Block' with the goal to design & develop new and original typefaces. The foundry has soon established a reputation for producing contemporary typefaces with a high technical value that work in the commercial market place.

Kobern - Typeface
A strong, horizontal sans serif typeface. The letterforms distinct lateral emphasis combined with condensed proportions helps improve readability and use of space across layouts. Ideally suited for a wide range of modern applications, details include 9 weights with italics, 540 characters, 5 variations of numerals, manually edited kerning and Opentype features.

Originally designed back in 2010 the NuOrder typeface has been further developed through carefully selected feedback from professional type experts. Each letterform has been reformed to a higher level of craftsmanship, creating a more contemporary aesthetic. Other details include the addition of 4 new weights, improved letter spacing and kerning.

Nurom - Typeface
A contemporary sans-serif typeface. It’s structure takes influence from the early grotesque style, resulting in a precise and legible font with a charming character. Details include 8 weights, a standard character set, manually edited kerning and Euro symbol.
